Ringette was invented in 1963 in North Bay, Ontario as an alternative ice sport to hockey. It has it's own set of rules which promote safe team play. Here is a video history of the sport by one of our own players - TALIA. And here is a great article on the sport by the Winnipeg Free Press.
In the Lower Mainland ringette is played in 9 associations from Richmond to North Vancouver and Langley to Vancouver. Practices happen weekly and games start as early as September for experienced players. For those just learning the sport, games start in November and in January for the youngest players. The season is done by the end of February but often players find ways to keep playing with Springette.

For older new players we make special effort to give them every possibility of success with additional practices with younger groups. Do not be intimidated because you've never played before as many successful players did not start until U12/U14.
